Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1480498A2] Operating method for a lighting system in which a ready command can be given that controls a discharge lamp power supply unit such that the lamp electrodes are heated while the lamp is not discharging, i.e. illuminated. This means that when the discharge lamp subsequently receives a switch on command it can be activated immediately due to the pre-heating time of the electrodes. The invention also relates to a corresponding power supply unit for a discharge lamp, a control unit for a discharge lamp and a lighting system.
