[origin: WO03072320A1] The invention relates to a universal slicer comprising a housing (1) which has a front wall (3) acting as an adjustment plate (5) and a back wall (4) which has an opening (11) wherein a rotational handle (2) is introduced for adjusting the adjustment plate (5), said handle being provided with a threaded section (6), a handle section (7) and catching means (8). According to the invention, in order to produce a universal slicer with a rotational handle which adjusts the width of the cut and which only becomes slightly dirty during the use thereof, being easy to clean, the catching means (8) is configured in such a way that when it is in an inserted position in the housing (1) it is covered and cannot be seen from the outside. The advantage thereof is that dirt is prevented from being deposited on protruding catching hooks or on sections of the housing or on the rotational handle.
