[origin: WO03072899A1] The invention relates to household devices which comprise a useful compartment (3) and can be closed by means of a door (5) provided with a door handle (17). Such household appliances comprise a storage compartment (61) into which the door (5) can be displaced by means of guiding system (58) comprising at least one guiding element (59) which is associated with the door (5) and is guided in a sliding track (63) associated with the household appliance. According to the invention, in order to be able to operate the door in an ergonomically favourable manner, at least one control mechanism (38) is associated with the door handle (17). When the door (5) pivots in a first pivoting direction, the control mechanism (38) pivots the door handle (17) in a second pivoting direction counter to the first pivoting direction.
