Abstract (en)

[origin: WO03077514A1] The invention relates to a mobile telephone device as part of a hands-free device in a motor vehicle. The functions and functionalities of previously known mobile telephone devices are expandable only to a limited extent by connecting peripheral equipment such as headphone-microphone combinations thereto. The aim of the invention is to create novel mobile telephone devices that can be expanded in a flexible manner with components or functionalities. Said aim is achieved by a base (1) which comprises a mechanism (8) receiving a module unit (20). Said module unit (20) is connected in a conductive manner to the control unit by means of a connecting element (21) that is provided with contact elements at both the end of the module unit (20) and the end of the receiving mechanism (8). The module unit (20) comprises analog and/or digital functional units and/or analog storage units. The module unit can be embodied as an expansion card or memory card. The mobile telephone device is expanded by the function which is predefined in each module unit (20) that is used therewith. The selection of available functions of the mobile telephone device can be modified in a flexible manner by changing the module units.
