In addition, both the distance of the encoder (2) from the receiving unit (4) and the receiving level of the response signal are measured on the object side and the position of the encoder (2) is calculated from said measurements. This permits a differentiation to be made between the exterior and interior regarding the position of the encoder (2). Access is released and authorisation is granted, only if the position of the encoder (2) is identified as permissible.
