Claimed is a process to apply a three-dimensional, curved surface finish to a ring area using an abrasive surface that is presented by a rotary tool. The tool has a profile matching that of the target profiled form. Also claimed is a commensurate rotary tool whose contact surface is sub-divided into emery cloth segments.

Gegenstand der Erfindung ist ein Verfahren zur Finishbearbeitung von dreidimensional gekrümmten Ringflächen. Erfindungsgemäß wird ein Schleifband als Finishwerkzeug mittels eines Andruckelementes, welches eine zu der zu bearbeitenden Fläche eines Werkstückes komplementäre Andruckfläche aufweist, an die zu bearbeitende dreidimensional gekrümmte Ringfläche des rotierend angetriebenen Werkstückes angelegt. Gegenstand der Erfindung ist auch Finishwerkzeug zur Durchführung des beschriebenen Verfahrens. <IMAGE>
