[origin: WO03079836A1] The invention relates to a method and device for viewing, archiving and transmitting a garment model over a computer network. The inventive method consists in photographing a physical mannequin (2) from several different directions, said mannequin being a copy of a virtual human model which is representative of the target consumer (1). The virtual mannequin viewing layers and the garment model are generated (3) from digital images of the naked or clothed mannequin (2) which is suspended (13) from the photography stand (13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 27, 28). A laser beam (27) is used to determine the exact position of the mannequin (2). Subsequently, crop marks (17) and recorded reference lines can be used to merge (4) the viewing layers and the model precisely. Said data are archived in a base (22) and transmitted (5) over an intranet, an extranet or the Internet (31) for the purpose of remote viewing. The inventive method and device are particularly suitable for the design, manufacture and inspection of clothing samples in the clothing industry.
