Abstract (en)

[origin: WO03082117A1] The problem with quantifying bodies, particularly bubbles, in ultrasonic diagnostics is that the concentration of bodies, particularly bubbles, is often so high that the obtained image data is saturated concerning the representation thereof, rendering quantification impossible. In order to solve said problem, the bodies contained in cross-sectional layers of an object that is to be analyzed are stimulated by means of ultrasound so as to emit characteristic signals, whereupon said signals are recorded, sets of data are formed from the signals, the sets of data are transformed into a representation of the arrangement of the bodies in the object that is to be analyzed, and the number of bodies is detected therefrom. At least two sets of ultrasonic signals are recorded from overlapping cross-sectional layers in the object that is to be analyzed.
