[origin: WO03078182A1] The invention relates to a method and a device for monitoring the state of a tyre on the driven wheels of a motor vehicle. The rotational movement of the driven wheels are recorded for the monitoring and parameters generated which are dependent on the recorded rotational movements. The generated parameters are further linked to each other. The monitoring is then carried out depending on the result of the linking. The invention is characterized in that the monitoring further includes the drive torque acting on the driven wheels and is based on the fact that for different kinds of tyres the rolling circumference changes dramatically depending on the drive torque and a change in rolling circumference due to pressure loss can thus be compensated for and hence not recognised. According to the invention, where the influence of the drive torque is compensated for during the pressure loss recognition then a pressure loss can be reliably recognised in such cases without erroneous signals.
