[origin: WO03048024A1] A platform to support the men carrying out maintenance work on a railway car (12), to be arranged contiguously with said car, comprises a motor-driven trolley (1) with a lateral side (1b) that extends in the direction of motion and is intended to be arranged contiguously with a body side of said car (12). A raisable horizontal footboard (9) is supported by said trolley (1) and a pair of projecting structures (11) comprising respective walking planes (11a) are arranged at the rearward and forward ends of the footboard (9) with respect to the direction of motion of said trolley (1). The projecting structures (11) can be moved between a non-working position in which they do not project beyond the lateral side (1b) of the trolley, and a working position in which they do project beyond said lateral side (1b), extending the walking plane (11a) beyond the lateral side in a position that is substantially coplanar with the footboard (9).
