Abstract (en)

[origin: WO03073789A1] A method and system for assessing the performance and positioning implanted actuators (108) of semi or fully-implantable hearing aid systems. The invention utilizes an externally positioned test measurement device (300) to obtain electrical impedance measurements of an actuator (108) when driven by a test signal of predetermined characteristics. The electrical impedance is directly related to the mechanical impedance such that the impedance may be utilized to assess whether the actuator (108) is operative and whether a desired interface between the actuator (108) and the middle ear is present. The invention further includes a non-invasive method and system for positioning or repositioning the actuator (108) relative to a component of middle ear.
