[origin: EP1489039A2] An elevator has a cable brake system that delivers the braking force (BK) by a pantograph (21) arrangement forming two pairs of levers. A pair of levers consists of a first lever (22), one end of which is attached to the eye (23) end of a rod (23) projecting from the elevator car, and a second lever (24) that pivots on a housing (20). During normal operation the rod (23) remains secured by a trigger lever (25) that pivots on the housing (20). The brake spring force (FK) is applied to the pantograph (21) cables, thereby generating the brake force (BK) on the brake plates.
