Abstract (en)
The shed former for a loom having a heddle frame operated by an electrical actuator has the latter in the form of a self-contained assembly (40) with an electric motor (46) and a reduction gear (60) with a hollow wheel (54). The motor's output shaft (44) is fitted with a pinion (52) that meshes with a toothed surface (54a) on the inside of the hollow wheel. The wheel creates a rotary/oscillating motion in a drive shaft connected by a crank and arm to the heddle frame. The reduction gear is located in a housing (56) on one end (44d) of the motor, the housing being enclosed and containing the hollow wheel, pinion and lubricant. The actuator is also fitted with a brake (50).
