The drive circuit (10) applies a negative voltage to a glow plug (12) acting as a sensor and associated with the cylinder for an ion measurement device to determine the conductivity of combustion gases. The negative voltage is generated by a capacitor (20) that is suitably charged after switching off the glow plug via the stored magnetic energy in the internal inductance (16) of the glow plug.

Es wird eine Treiberschaltung für eine einem Zylinder eines Dieselmotors zugeordnete Ionenmesseinrichtung zur Messung der Leitfähigkeit des im Zylinder befindlichen Verbrennungsgases beschrieben, mit der an eine dem Zylinder zugeordnete, als Sensor dienende Glühkerze für eine jeweilige Ionenmessung eine negative Spannung anlegbar ist. Dabei wird die negative Spannung mittels eines Kondensators erzeugt, der nach einem jeweiligen Abschalten der Glühkerze über die in der internen Induktivität der Glühkerze gespeicherte magnetische Energie entsprechend aufgeladen wird.
