Abstract (en)
An ink-receiving material comprises a support coated on at least one side with an ink-receiving layer. The ink-receiving layer contains sub-micron silica and at least partially hydrolyzed copolymer comprising vinyl ester monomer units (A1) and ethylenically unsaturated cationic monomer units (A2) hardened with boric acid or borate. An independent claim is included for preparation of the ink-receiving material involving coating the support on at least one side with a dispersion formed of the sub-micron silica particles, the partially hydrolyzed copolymer and boric acid or borate, so as to form the ink-receiving layer hardened with boric acid or borate.
