[origin: EP1493552A1] An apparatus (100) for transferring decorative embossments onto a sheet material (A), comprises an engraved cylinder (2) which has a plurality of engravings forming protruding parts on an outer side surface thereof and an embossing cylinder (5) having an outer side surface juxtaposed to that of said engraved cylinder (2), so that the protruding parts of the engraved cylinder (2) transfer the relative decorative embossments onto the sheet material (A) which is fed between the engraved cylinder (2) and the embossing cylinder (5); the outer side surface of the engraved cylinder (2) is divided into at least two sectors having projecting parts with different decorative designs.
