Abstract (en)

[origin: EP1494508A2] A controllable high-voltage generator (CHVG) (11) links to a gas discharge lamp (1) to deliver ignition pulses. A control circuit (CC) (12) with two types of operation links to the CHVG to control it. As part of the CC, a recognition device differentiates an ignition process from a re-ignition process so as to allow the CC to operate during re-ignition in a mode other than during ignition. An independent claim is also included for an ignition method for a gas discharge lamp.
