[origin: WO03078722A1] According to the invention, during the operation of the machine, the shuttle (27) is constantly maintained by a gripper (15,17) so that throws of the shuttle are prevented and the alarm level of the knitting machine is kept low. The passage of the shuttle (27) through the loop of the needle thread is not impeded by the gripper (15,17) by virtue of the fact that the shuttle (27) is displaced upwards by a lower gripper (15) until it passes through approximately half of the loop, whereupon the shuttle is then received by an upper gripper (17). Said device for driving the shuttle comprises two cam disks having different displacement curves (21,23) for the grippers (15,17) which control the transfer of the shuttle from the lower gripper (45) to the upper gripper (17)
