[origin: EP1496161A1] A cost effective and rapid method for preparing a roadway for road or rail excavates two or more slit trenches along the line of the road and mixes the excavated material with cement and other material and refills the trenches to form vertical support walls (3). The invention extends the process by using the excess material from the trenches, mixed with cement and other materials, to form a covering bed (4) over the tops of the walls. The covering bed can be laid onto a sand layer (2) and forms a rigid structure with the vertical walls. The final roadway is laid onto the covering layer.
