[origin: WO03085193A1] The invention relates to a valuable document, e.g. a banknote (1) or the like that is mainly made of fibers, comprising a security strip (3) that is completely embedded at least in areas inside the cross-section of the valuable document. According to the invention, the security strip (3) is provided, at least in areas, with a multitude of openings (4) or is structured in a lattice-like manner, and fibers of the valuable document (1) pass through the openings (4) or the lattice-like structure of the security strip (3). At least one viewing section (7) is formed on the valuable document (1) whereby, in this section, the security strip is exposed on one side in a window-like manner. In order to increase the number of possibilities for verifying authenticity, the at least one viewing section (7) is provided on both sides whereby exposing the security strip in an at least partially window-like manner.
