[origin: EP1498552A1] A design of wire basket for filling with ballast for reinforcing embankments and for building earth walls has a rectangular shape assembled from wire mesh panels for four sides, the base and a top panel. The panels are made of crossed wires welded/brazed at the crossing points and with some of the panels with extending free ends of the wires to loop around the cross wires of adjacent panels to form the basket. Additional reinforcing wires are included in the panels. Lifting grips (1) are attached to the top ends of at least two opposite sides. These are firmly secured to the panels, or are hinged into the panels with the free ends of the grip wires looped together with self locking knots.
