[origin: EP1498562A2] A coach has a baggage compartment with a hatch and closing mechanism. The closing mechanism is located within a housing (11). The closing mechanism is operated by a lever (13) that is retained when in the closed presentation by a safety catch (12). The lever is coupled to a release-wheel (14). When the safety catch is engaged the lever is free to operate in either direction without activation of the lever mechanism.
