[origin: EP1498685A1] A load forming a projectile, comprises a metal tube (7). Its (7) axis of symmetry (9) lies in the principal direction of the projectile. A shaped explosive charge (10) surrounds the metal tube. Detonation of the charge sets up a wave front (12). This compacts the metal tube from its rear to its front. It also accelerates it in the direction of the projectile.
