[origin: WO03095096A1] A centrifuge comprising a centrifugal drum (2), an element which is arranged such that it is axially displaceable inside or outside on said centrifugal drum (46), and at least one seal (86,88) which is arranged between the displaceable element (46) and the centrifugal drum (2) or any other component (40) which cannot be displaced relative to the centrifugal drum (2) in order to seal the gap between the displaceable element (46) and the centrifugal drum (2) or the component (40) which cannot be displaced relative to the centrifugal drum (2). The at least one seal (86, 88) is arranged in such at way that it is axially open in the direction leading towards the centrifugal chamber (36), at least in sections thereof, in a groove (82) which is also axially open in sections.
