[origin: EP1502971A2] Process for cleaning high grade steel surfaces close to a welding seam comprises applying a high voltage impulse with a voltage of more than 40 V, preferably more than 400 V, for an average impulse duration of between 5 x 10->1>2> seconds and 1 seconds during cleaning.
