[origin: EP1502989A1] In a papermaking process a fibrous suspension is discharged from a headbox jet onto an endless sieve belt, or sandwiched between two endless moving sieve belts. The assembly incorporates an optical measuring device (10) that facilitates adjustment of the point at which the suspension jet impinges on the sieve (4). The optical measuring device operates in conjunction with a laser source (6, 7) of coherent light (8, 9) that impinges on the sensor (10) located in the impingement zone under the sieve where it is attached to a dewatering element (11). The jet is set by calibration using a test fluid when the sieve is stationary.
