[origin: EP1503010A1] A typical master key may be made from a blank (1) with a rectangular-section end and a wide groove on each side (5,6) for most of its length. There are oppositely-offset ribs (3,4) on the edges, and the corner of the rectangle adjacent to the rib is cut away forming guide ribs (7). Other shapes with several grooves in the sides may be used.
