Abstract (en)

[origin: WO03094669A1] The invention concerns a support structure with self-adapting surface for obtaining a substantially uniform distribution of forces resulting from the structure on the supported object or person. Said support structure (1) comprises a base (2), an assembly of separate and adjacent pins (3) forming a self-adapting support surface, said pins being mobile and linked to the base (2) through several platform stages (41-44) forming levers. Each platform (44) of the fourth stage bears three pins (3) and is linked at its center to a platform (43) of the third stage through a hinge (54). Each platform (43) bears three platforms (44) and is linked at its center to a platform (42) of the second stage through a hinge (53) and so on. Each platform (41) of the first stage bears three platforms (42) and is linked to the base (2) through a hinge (51). The invention is applicable to all types of support surface for comfort as well as in the transport and industry.
