Abstract (en)

[origin: EP1506827A1] Apparatus for casting non-ferrous metal melts, especially copper or copper alloys comprises a tundish (1) having an immersion pipe (6) running downward at an angle with a first section (8) and a second section forming the tip (9) of the immersion pipe. The immersion pipe is sealed at one end and has an outlet opening effecting a first directional change of the melt flow. A lip covering the outlet opening is arranged on the immersion pipe tip at a distance from the outlet opening and leads to second directional change and distribution of the melt flow across the longitudinal axis of the mold. The outlet opening and the lip are located above the mold bath surface in the operational state.
