[origin: WO03097339A1] The invention relates to a manually operated press (10) which comprises an actuation member whose movement is translated into a lifting movement of a press ram (30). The press is further provided with a travel stop, for example a return stop, which blocks a predetermined lifting movement of the press ram (30). Said travel stop has a first sensor (50) for detecting the lifting movement of the press ram (30) and a coupling (44). Said coupling is actuated depending on signals of the first sensor (50) and serves to prevent the transmission of power between the actuation member and the press ram.
