Abstract (en)
[origin: WO03095860A1] The invention concerns a floating caliper brake comprising a brake anchor plate (5), a floating caliper (31), extending on the outer edge of a brake disc and guided so as to slide axially on said brake anchor plate (5), brake pads (1, 2, 3, 4) arranged on both sides of the brake disc, enclosed by the floating caliper (31) and of which at least two (1, 2) are arranged on the inner axial side of the brake disc and at least two (3, 4) on the outer axial side, the inner brake pads (1, 2) being guided so as to slide on the brake anchor plate (5). The invention aims at reducing the weight of a floating caliper brake while improving the brake assembly and operating conditions. Therefor, the two outer pads (3, 4) are supported by arms (6, 7, 8) of the anchor plate, projecting from the brake disc, while the floating caliper (31) acts on said two outer brake pads. The dependent claims disclose how such improvement is advantageously achieved.
