Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2004091085A1] A protection configuration for converter means (INU) which comprise a plurality of controllable switches (V1 to V6), the protection configuration comprising a protection circuit (2) coupled to the alternating voltage side of the converter means (INU), which protection circuit comprises at least one protective switch (V11) configured to short-circuit the alternating voltage side of the converter means (INU), wherein the protection configuration, in predetermined failure situations, is configured to close the protective switch (V11) and thus to short-circuit the alternating voltage side of the converter means (INU). After the failure situation has cleared up, the protection configuration is configured to short-circuit the alternating voltage side of the converter means (INU) by means of the controllable switches (V2, V4, V6) to enhance commutation of the protective switch (V11).
