Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1510668A1] Seen along the direction of exhaust gas flow, and located ahead of the openings (36, 38) there are turbulence-inducing baffles (40) projecting inwardly from the inner surface of the exhaust pipe (18) which is located within the exhaust box casing (12). The baffles are in the form of e.g. sheet metal studs pressed into the exhaust pipe, extending radially by about 1/10th of the pipe diameter, and extending transversely and longitudinally by about 1/3 and 1/6 of the diameter respectively. The silencer operates reflectively or resonantly.
