[origin: EP1511043A1] The arrangement has directing x-rays from an x-ray source at a reflective element that monochromatises x-radiation. The reflective element is arranged, aligned and/or shaped so the Bragg equation is fulfilled for a selected wavelength with a suitable angle of incidence. A monochromating multilayer system formed on the reflective element and matched to the selected wavelength has several periodically repeating layer pairs. The respective wavelength is selected for reliable separation from further wavelengths of the spectrum with higher intensities or energies.
