Abstract (en)

[origin: WO03106074A2] The invention relates to a method for reducing the corrosivity of cooling or process water, during which the pH value is lowered by introducing acids. The inventive method is characterized in that at least one water-soluble salt having a buffering effect is metered to the cooling water or process water. This preferably ensues either proportionally with regard to quantity or according to the measured value of a characteristic control value. The method can be applied to continuous flow systems or to circulation systems and, in particular, can be used in continuous casting installations utilized in the steel industry.
