[origin: WO2004000650A1] The invention relates to a method for packaging an item by means of packaging formed from a shrinkable lower film (7) and an upper film (10). The lower film is deep-drawn to form a container receiving the item and an upper film is supplied for covering purposes once the item has been placed therein. The packaging thus formed is sealed in an evacuating and sealing station. In order to remove the film section arising between the part of the lower and upper film directly adjacent to said item and the edge of the seal (16), post-shrinkage occurs by impinging heat upon said packaging on all sides after evacuation and sealing. The invention also relates to a corresponding device for carrying out said method.
