Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2004000704A1] The invention relates to a device for detecting a running disturbance in a running web (06), preferably of a paper web, comprising a normal web path (13), which is followed by the web when in an undisturbed state, and comprising a sensor (09). The sensor is a distance sensor, which quantitatively detects a distance of the web from the normal web path followed thereby when in an undisturbed state, and detects a running disturbance when the distance of the web from the web path exceeds a predetermined value. In another device, the sensor uses an emitter for emitting a sampled signal and a receiver for registering the scanned signal after propagating on a beam path. The beam path runs along the side of the normal web path and the sensor detects a running disturbance when the web enters the beam path.
