[origin: WO03106754A1] The invention relates to a stretching machine comprising a horizontal drying zone and a vertical pretreatment zone for a web of material spread between stentering chains. Said stentering chains are brought from the vertical to a horizontal position in a deflection zone. In order to achieve for a stentering chain with deflection by axes that are perpendicluar to the surface of the web of material that the chain can be guided, with the linking pins tilted, through the deflection zone without the pin bearing being damaged, the deflection pins are configured as crowned elements. The deflection pins are shaped to match the crowned shape of the pins.
