[origin: EP1514995A1] There are means (54) of displacing a pressing part (52) which is part of the side wall (42) of a stabilizer (40) between a rest position in the stabilizer side wall and an active position protruding from the side wall to press against the wall of the shaft. There are means of controlling this displacement and means (64,66) of giving the pressing part a predetermined angular orientation : A drill string (20) to cause the rotation and the lifting/lowering of the drill head (18); means (16) of controlling the rotation of the drill string, and a stabilizer (40) that rotates freely about the drill string near the drill head. The stabilizer is mounted to move freely along the drill string between two abutments (48, 50) connected to the drill string. The means of giving the pressing part the predetermined angular orientation are first means forming an abutment, fixed in rotation to the stabilizer, and second means forming an abutment fixed in rotation to the drill string and movable relative to the drill string to take a first active position in which the first and second means forming an abutment can act together to transmit the rotation of the drill string to the stabilizer. The second means forming an abutment is a jack (60) whose body is fixed to the drill string and the rod (64) moves parallel to the axis of the drill string : in the out position the end of the rod acts together in rotation with the first means forming an abutment. The jack is a hydraulic or pneumatic jack and the first means forming an abutment are on the stabilizer. The means of displacing the pressing part include at least one hydraulic jack whose body is fixed to the stabilizer and the end of the rod is fixed to the pressing part. The hydraulic jack is fed with liquid by a circuit formed from the rods of the drill string, a rotating joint with a first part fixed to the drill string and a second part fixed to the stabilizer and by a pipe connecting the second part of the rotating joint to the hydraulic jack.
