[origin: WO2004002739A1] The invention relates to a cylinder of a printing unit of a rotary offset printing machine. Said cylinder has a periphery and a length in an axial direction, whereby the lateral surface (13) of the cylinder is subdivided, over the length thereof, into at least three sections (A, B, C) that are lined up next to one another. Said lateral surface has, in at least three sections, at least one slot-shaped opening (14), whereby at least two openings arranged in two different sections are offset from one another with regard to the periphery (U) of the cylinder. This cylinder is preferably intended for use in a cylinder pair consisting of a 6/2 printing cylinder (01a) and of a transfer cylinder (01b).
