[origin: EP1516544A1] Drying plant for drying tobacco material (11) comprises a drying device (13) for drying the tobacco passing through it and a measurement arrangement for producing a measurement signal that depends on the moisture of the incoming tobacco. A control unit (15) controls the drying device and speeds or slows the supply of tobacco through it, dependent on the measured incoming moisture level. An independent claim is made for a method for controlling the drying of tobacco in a tobacco drying plant.
