Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2004002829A1] The invention relates to a strapping device which is especially used for longitudinally strapping stacks of printed products such as newspapers or magazines, using a strapping material (6). Said strapping device has a strapping position with a bearing surface (2), means for positioning the objects (1) to be strapped in the strapping position, and means for transporting the strapped products away. Said strapping position has a closing region (3) which is arranged beneath the bearing surface (2) and is designed in such a way as to feed the strapping material (6) into a loop channel (4), to fix an end of the loop (7), to withdraw the strapping material (6) from the loop channel (4), and to close and separate a finished strapped product. Said loop channel (4) extends from both sides of the closing region (3), forming a groove in the bearing surface (2). The device also comprises a loop guiding element (10) which is stationary during the strapping and rises inside the loop channel (4) and laterally out of the bearing surface (2) from the strapping position, and curves above or towards the strapping position, in such a way that the positioning of an object (1) to be strapped in relation to the strapping position is not hindered, and that a loop of strapping material (6) in the loop channel (4) is guided upwards in a sliding manner on the outer side of the loop guiding element, when it is shortened by withdrawing the strapping material. The loop guiding element (10) ends above the strapping position, from which position the loop is placed around the object to be strapped, and shortened further. Although the loop channel (4) of the strapping device has a simple form, it requires no displaceable parts for displacing the loop.
