[origin: WO2004001124A1] Disclosed is a method for influencing and/or monitoring the pressed profile section created in the running direction of a web of material and/or in a transversal direction thereof in an extended pressing gap which is used for treating said web of material. According to the inventive method, data concerning a pressed profile section which is created in a specific state of a profiling unit setting a pressed profile is stored in a data memory, and the stored data concerning said state is retrieved in order to impinge the profiling unit in a specific manner. Also disclosed is a corresponding device.
