[origin: EP1520815A1] The system to thread a web through a machine deflection point, in the production or finishing of paper or cardboard, has a vacuum transport belt (30), with a number of sections (46,48,50) around the path deflection. The leading end of the web is transferred in succession from one section to the next by an angle of =180[deg] around a part of the total path deflection angle. Each section has a continuous belt (52,54,56) around end rollers (58,60,62,64) with a suction system (82,84), connected to a common suction source.
