Road milling machine (2) comprises a driver's station (10) with a base plate (14), and a steering device (26) fixed to the chassis (4) and provided with a console (28) with a steering wheel (30). The console is fixed at one end laterally to the chassis and its other end is free. The console extends laterally above the base plate to form an opening (36) between the base plate and the console. Preferred Features: The chassis has a recess (38) in front of the opening in the direction of travel so that the road covering (18) is visible through the opening.

Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft eine Straßenfräsmaschine mit einem Fahrerstand (10), der eine Bodenplatte (14) aufweist, und einer am Chassis (4) der Straßenfräsmaschine (2) befestigten Lenkeinrichtung (26). Die Lenkeinrichtung (26) weist eine Konsole (28) auf, an der ein Lenkrad (30) angeordnet ist. Erfindungsgemäß ist die Konsole (28) mit einem Ende seitlich am Chassis (4) befestigt, während das andere Ende der Konsole (28) frei ist. Die Konsole (28) erstreckt sich oberhalb der Bodenplatte (14) unter Ausbildung einer Öffnung (36) zwischen der Bodenplatte (14) und der Konsole (28) zur Seite. Da unterhalb der Konsole (28) eine Öffnung (36) verbleibt, hat der Fahrzeugführer die Möglichkeit, die zu bearbeitende Verkehrsfläche (18) zu beobachten, ohne sich zur Seite lehnen zu müssen, wie dies bei herkömmlichen Straßenfräsmaschinen der Fall ist, bei denen die Seite des Chassis die Sicht versperrt, an der die Konsole angeordnet ist. <IMAGE>
