Abstract (en)

[origin: DE10232150A1] A method for regulating the temperature of the coolant of a motor vehicle combustion engine in which a temperature sensor measures the coolant temperature and a control unit adjusts the coolant flow to maintain a predefined threshold temperature value. A further control unit is used to determine if the vehicle is being driven economically or sportily. The control unit signals to the first control unit the driver type and the first control unit adjusts the coolant flow volume accordingly. An Independent claim is made for a device, incorporating a microprocessor, for regulating the coolant flow of a combustion engine. The device and method permit the engine to run with a higher coolant temperature and reduced coolant flow when the vehicle is driven economically to when it is being driven sportily.
