Abstract (en)
[origin: WO2004013839A1] A filter bank arrangement for the generation of a complex spectral representation of a time-discrete signal comprises a device (10), for production of a block real spectral representation, which carries out an MDCT, for example, in order to obtain a temporal series of blocks of real spectral coefficients. The output values of said spectral processing arrangement are supplied to a device (12) for processing the block real spectral representation, in order to give an approximate complex spectral representation with serial blocks, whereby each block comprises a set of complex approximate spectral coefficients. A complex approximate spectral coefficient may be represented by a first partial spectral coefficient and a second partial spectral coefficient, whereby at least either the first or the second partial spectral coefficient is determined by a combination of at least two real spectral coefficients. A good approximation for a complex spectral representation of the time-discrete signal is obtained by combination of two real spectral coefficients and preferably by a weighted linear combination, whereby, in addition, several degrees of freedom are available for optimisation of the total system.
