Abstract (en)

[origin: EP1525965A2] Production of long chippings or shreddings from wood with exactly defined dimensions comprises stripping or cutting a sheet of veneer with exact thickness from a round timber or a tree trunk. The sheet of veneer is cut perpendicular to the fiber direction using an axe or a similar device to form strips of exact length. The strips are separated to an exact width using a flake splitter or a similar device. An independent claim is also included for the production of long chippings by rotary cutting. Preferred Features: Long chippings with a length of 100-200 mm, a width of 15-20 mm, and a thickness of 0.5-1.1 mm are produced.
