[origin: US2006101886A1] The invention relates to a main cylinder or compression cylinder ( 4 ) of an extrusion/tube extrusion press ( 1 ), said cylinder being located in a transversal element ( 2 ) and comprising a cylinder housing ( 3 ) with a press piston ( 5 ), which is connected to a rod ( 9 ) that projects from the cylinder housing. According to the invention, the rod ( 9 ) is configured with an integrated feed and return cylinder ( 12 ) and comprises an axial hollow bore ( 13 ) that forms a hydraulic chamber ( 18 ) and houses a sword-shaped tube ( 15 ), the latter being surrounded concentrically by an outer housing ( 17 ), thus forming an annular gap ( 16 ), which is fluidically connected to the hydraulic chamber ( 18 ). Said tube is immobilised by one end that projects from the rod ( 9 ), together with the outer housing ( 17 ) in a hydraulic connection block ( 14 ), which comprises a conduit connection that opens into the sword-shaped tube ( 15 ) and a conduit connection ( 23; 24 ) that opens into the annular gap ( 16 ).
