Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2004020176A1] The invention relates to a device and a method for the generation of a marking on a substrate. Said marked substrates are applied, for example, on documents such as credit cards, personal identity or banknotes, as security features for protection against forgery. Embodiments of said security features comprises diffractive or holographic structures. The generation of the markings is carried out by means of shaping with a die. A change in the embodiment of the marking is possible by means of a time-consuming change of the die. According to the invention, the novel device and the novel method permit the production of individualised markings on a substrate with little complex equipment. The novel device comprises a reproduction device (41), embodied as a reproducing roller, with a reproduction surface, a device for generating a radiation (30) and a counter-pressure device (42) with a counter-pressure surface. A substrate (43) is arranged between the reproduction surface of the reproduction device (41) and the counter-pressure surface of the counter-pressure device (42) such that a shaping region of the reproduction surface is shaped on the substrate (43) in a contact region (53) between the reproduction surface and the substrate (43).
